MERS, a zoonotic virus, spreads to humans from infected dromedary camels. Those with diabetes, renal failure, chronic lung disease are at high risk of contracting the infection. So far, the virus has claimed 936 lives and a total of 2605 cases have been reported in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.
