Man drowns rat, booked for 'killing cattle' in UP

in a bizarre incident, a man has been booked for allegedly killing a rat after tying it to a brick and then drowning it in a drain in UP's Budaun. However, for want of a relevant section in law, accused Manoj Kumar has been hauled up under sections 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle, etc) of IPC, along with section 11 (1) (1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, at Sadar Kotwali police station on a complaint lodged earlier by animal rights activist Vikendra Sharma.
