In recent times, we’ve witnessed growing instances of attacks on comedians. It was not long ago when Munawar Faruqui, a comedian from Gujarat, was jailed for a joke he reportedly did not crack. Vir Das’ satire ‘Two Indias’ became popular internationally and so did the flak it received back in the homeland. A little while back, AIB faced legal consequences over their 2015 roast after attracting widespread public backlash. Is humour under threat from woke culture?
