Eight people were charred to death in a late-night fire at Bogtui village in Rampurhat on Monday a couple of hours after a Trinamool Congress panchayat deputy head was killed by bike-borne miscreants. The deaths, the highest toll in a single incident reported in Bengal since the nine deaths in West Midnapore's Netai on January 7, 2011, sparked a political blame game.
