When the state government sought the support of the Indian Army to rescue Cherattil Babu, the 23-year-old youth who was stuck in a crevice on the steep Kurumbachi Hill at Cherad near Malampuzha, it was deemed just another rescue mission for the mountaineering specialists of Madras Regimental Centre (MRC) at Wellington in Tamil Nadu. And when they started climbing the hill on Tuesday night, most of those waiting below with prayers thought it would be an easy task.
