Punjab polls: Why Manjinder Sirsa's induction matters for BJP

In its continuing effort to win over the Sikhs and farmers back, the BJP on Wednesday inducted senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa into the party. The move comes a couple of months ahead of the assembly elections in five states, particularly Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, and during the ongoing farmers’ protest over minimum support price (MSP) and other issues.
