Punjab: Double penalty for schools not teaching Punjabi from Std I- X

To ensure the implementation of Punjabi as a compulsory subject for all students from Class I to X, the Punjab cabinet on Sunday approved an amendment to the Punjab Learning of Punjabi and Other Languages Act, 2008, to double the amount of penalties for contravening the provisions of the act from the existing Rs 25,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 1 lakh.
